I read a ton of reviews on these before purchasing. My main goal was to be able to keep my hands warm and still preserve the dexterity of intermittently using my fingers while wearing them. All the reviews mentioned that they are warm - I can verify this down into the mid 20s at present. Some of those comments follwed up with these mitts being too warm when active - I have only had two opportunities where that has happened, and both were when it started in the low 30s and ended near 40. Really, just exposing the fingers helped to get the hand pocked back down to a non-sweaty temp. Lots of the reviews mentioned the weakness of the magnets. These magnets are not weak, they just need to be aligned. They aren't hidden somewhere in the glove - you can see and feel the dime sized magnets in the finger area and over the back of the hand, if you take the extra second needed to lined them up, there seems to be no issue holding them for me. As for the rest of the quality, fit, and softness of the gloves - i found the many other reviews to cover this just fine. I am very happy with my purchase and have recommended them to anyone else that I know would be willing to pony up the bucks for a good set of convertible mittens.
Very warm and durable! Very pleased
All of my eberlestock gear is exceptional but I have to give these a 4/5 for the magnet, which is an essential part of getting the mitt out of the way when shooting or using gps etc. It doesn’t even kinda work. Anyone would have known immediately that it didn’t work before selling it, and that is the most disappointing. Other than that they are warm and seem well made.
Great gloves
Magnet placement and strength could be better. Overall though, the mitts are well made. Looking forward to warm hands when hunting.
Great mitt. Two complaints keeps it from 5 stars. First, the magnets that hold the mitt open are not strong enough. Second, I like a draw string to attach my mitts to my wrists.
These are great mittens in every way except the magnets to hold them open don't work at all.
Great glove
I have got to test these out in some below zero temperatures recently and they were absolutely brillant. These are the warmest mitts/gloves I have ever owned. The flip up mitt still allows for full use of your fingers when you need that extra dexterity.
These are great for temps in the 20s. While standing they kept my hands warm all day, and were actually too warm when active and had to take them off. Fit is good, maybe a bit snug but only an issue when taking them off as I found the glove liner turned inside out in the thumb and pinky finger. I think I have average size hands and got these in large/XL. I wasn't expecting a non-removable liner and now see why the little pull tabs are on the liner... probably couldn't take them off without. Other minor gripe is the magnet to hold the mitt open isn't very strong. I'm hoping with some use they break in and stay open more easily. Materials and construction are excellent. The polar mitts are warm and seem durable.
